2019-Leading From Behind

Leading From Behind

July 18, 2019

One Sky Event presents Leading from Behind, a concept initially formed from curiosity on how leaders enable others to lead. Further research discovered this theme in Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom where he compares leadership to shepherding. Additionally, Linda Hill, a top leadership scholar, professor from Harvard Business School, and author of Collective Genius, has written about the roles leaders play to promote innovation where “great ideas from people in all parts of the organization develop”.

As inspiration, empowerment and collaboration resonate deeply with us, we felt it was beyond apropos to create our event in celebration of Mandela Day and in conjunction with Boise State’s hosting of Mandela Washington Fellows for Young African Leaders Initiative.

Come learn about the impacts of leading from behind in communities, institutions, and organizations and how you can leverage the “collective genius” for the common good.
